Hi, my name’s Dave Bull and welcome to my website. My aim is to bring wildlife into people’s lives by turning my favourite animals and birds into works of art.
I was born and grew up on the outskirts of Birmingham an industrial city in England. I studied Art at King Edward’s College, Stourbridge, and Design in the coastal town of Bournemouth. I met the love of my life, a swede, whilst travelling in Australia with some mates, and am now living in Lund, Sweden. In my free time if I’m not playing tennis at ATL or coaching football for my kids teams then I’m painting. My aim is to produce the best wildlife art that I can possibly produce. I like the animal’s to take up the majority of the artwork and hope that when these pieces hang in people’s homes it makes them think from time to time about how their lifestyle choices affect our planet.
For as long as I can remember I have loved wildlife and our natural environment. I don’t know why exactly, but I guess it has something to do with the amazing variety of ecosystems and their inhabitants as well as the sense of adventure felt whilst exploring it. Wildlife is a dream for an artist, as the mix of colours, textures and never ending inspiration is incredible. However I also think that for as long as I can remember loving wildlife I can also remember being concerned for the conservation of this wildlife. I always feel a slight tinge of worry for the animals as I admire them, because I know that when their needs and human needs clash there is only one winner.
There is plenty of hope for the natural world of course, as technology drives forwards, new solutions will be found to enable us to feed, house and provide livable conditions to all seven billion of us without destroying our environment. The problem is that those technologies aren’t in place yet and the worrying speed with which we are destroying eco-systems and affecting our climate means that there might not be much left to save. So time is at a premium we must persuade governments and businesses to invest in sustainable ventures. See my links page to find out more about what you can do for the environment at this critical time.
Check out my gallery to see how my artwork is coming along and please contact me if you’re interested in any pieces. I donate at least 10 percent from each painting sale to WWF’s gift program. Together we can make a difference.
